Okay, if you install MacOS 9.1 you can no longer use ARAP (Appletalk Remote Access Protocol) anymore to phone into a network modem. Apple decided to take it out since ARA over TCP/IP is better.
Of course this really bites for those of us that only have an ARAP modem to dial into since it supports legacy MacOS Classic systems too. The solution, so I've been told is:
Boot off your MacOS 9.1 CD and do a custom uninstall to remove ARA4.0
Boot off your MacOS9.0 CD and custom install ARA3.5 to restore ARAP selection in the Remote Access panel.
It's stupid that Apple removed ARAP, hell, Mac Classic is on its last legs now that OSX is out, why not just leave ARAP in.
Here's a screenshot with the Apple Help Guide putting a circle around the area where you're supposed to choose the protocol. Heck, they didn't even update Apple Guide since it still circles the blank spot!
