Have your Pocket wizards ever leaked?

I mean the Double AA batteries in your Pocket wizards. twice I've had the batteries leak ruining the wizard. That last time it was still atop my Canon 5D and made the hot shoe color go from black to silver. I brushed the white residue out so it seems ok.

It happens in the closet over a few days, while I not paying attention. It may be left on, or may be off, not sure. Still unusual.

Re: Have your Pocket wizards ever leaked?

I havent had any leak problems in any PW's but then I don't use anything but Duracells in them and I store them without batteries. Sorry to hear you had that happen.

I use Duracells, you take the batteries out unless they are in use. ie you take them out after every shoot?

Re: Have your Pocket wizards ever leaked?

I've had this happen several times... each time it happened it was when the unit was left on and the batteries totally drained (which generally takes a few days). The batteries were always freshly purchased Duracells. I've switched to using rechargables and so far haven't had any problems.

Re: Have your Pocket wizards ever leaked?

Actually I do remove the batteries from my pocket wizards at the end of each shooting day. Force of habit now but I also unplug all strobe power supplies as well. Takes no time really.

I use Duracells in mine as well and haven't had any problems.
