Leica issued two new firmware releases for both the Leica M8 digital rangefinder camera and for the Leica DMR, the Digital-Modul-R back for the reflex cameras.
For the M8:

In both cases, to install the firmware update into the camera, copy the downloaded file to a blank formatted SD card (or to the cards root directory), and insert it into the powered off camera. Power it on and the camera will take care of all installation procedures. Just be sure of having a fully charged battery installed.
