Sad news: Norm Cabana passed away:

Thread on Sportsshooter

My remarks on Sportsshooter:

I have spoken with your father previously in regards to the strange event photography business we are in. He was as they say, Genius Maxius, and was very deep with knowledge and very kind in passing it on.

I never met him face to face but the times we spoke via the phone he treated me as though I was a long lost friend and spoke with excitement and passion that he had for photography and the very important Business side will sadly be missed.

His writings live on, on the other forums and I have printed out several volumes of his "Gate Keeper" and event philosophy knowledge and words of wisdom.

He was a very special person that will be missed.

Best regards
Ed J Szalajeski

This is a real shock.

Thanks Ed for updating us. I was wondering why we had not heard from Norm for some time. I figured that he was busy and all of us go through phases of 'no posts' for stretches.

This is truly a sad day and a real loss for our forum and the entire photo community. Norm certainly had a good grasp on where we should be headed in this industry and he did it by setting the example, not just speculating.

A sad day.

A light has gone out with the passing of Norman. He was the first person to welcome me to the Rob Galbraith forum, I still have many of his private messages of help and information that I still refer to. When many of the old contributors left at the demise of the Rob Galbraith forum, it was the knowledge that norm ha transfered that helped me to decide to move to this forum.God bless you Norm

I was saddened to read this. Norm was a great help to me, not only with his public postings but also by PM.

This is really sad news and I hope that our condolences get passed on to his family. Norm was always an entertaining contributor to these forums and any post he made was guaranteed to be thought provoking. Is there some way that we could honour his memory - maybe rename this the "Norm Cabana Event forum"?

We've lost a great member, and another realm has gained a great photographer. Norm will be missed.
