Citizen Dye Sub CW 01 prints distorted

Hello

I just received the above printer, I want to print straight 6 by 9 inch prints
So far the printer squashes the photo into half the paper area or distorts over full paper area. I am wondering what I am doing wrong. I have tried printing from Picassa and Photoshop elements with same result. Driver installed on cheap dell 1501 pc running xp. I have changed orientation portrait / landscape just squashes photo in a different direction, set size to A5 / 6 by 9 in print properties menu. No matter what I change always get distorted image. Am I missing something??? Help appreciated as bought for a job tomorrow, Monday afternoon, was told would work straight out the box which it does in a way but don't think client would appreciate guests looking as if they have been morphed very tall and thin or very short and fat. thank you Adrian .

Usually it's a problem with page dimensions and my best guess is that you are missing something. I've had this problem before and spent hours of frustration only to find it was a simple step that I missed. Odd size pages are sometimes a problem. Without more detail, it's pretty hard to troubleshoot for you.

Another guess would be to try sizing photo in pixels, not inches. Most dyesubs are 300 ppi., so a 6x9" would be 1800x2700 pixels. Check you printer specs for ppi on your unit.

I doubt it is your computer or XP. Most likely the printer driver not talking to your software correctly. Can you not print directly from your printer software? You didn't specifically say in your post. Try printing 5x7" on the 6x9" paper.

Good luck, DougA

Re: Citizen Dye Sub CW 01 prints distorted

Thanks for your reply, you are correct, it was as simple as making sure resolution was set properly, which I learned from the supplier this morning. Oddly, although pshop and picasa distorted printing , straight from windows gave a perfect print . Learned a lot on the job today, including with this particular printer that it sends out next print so fast that it trys to grab the one just printed and drag it back inside and destroys the printer ribbon. So made sure they dropped on the table rather than use print catcher which appeared to cause this problem. A bit of pritt stick glue seemed to rejoin the ribbon to its spool and all went well after that, 250 prints happy client

thank you for your input -- Adrian.
