Help with online proofs....

I know the question that I am about to ask is old stuff, however I have done some search's and looked at several web sites which leads me to these questions.

I am currently getting ready to launch my new web site. However my designer is not to fimilar with having a part of my web page to have so many pictures on site. So, let me tell you what I want, and hopefully you can tell me how you handled it for your web sites. I would also like a little feedback on any problems good or bad.

I know that there are many sites out there, so hopefully with your help I can narrow it down.

1. I would like for the customers to go to the site pick the pictures and the order forwarded to me to fill.

2. Looking for a host site or place that I can easily upload to. I know that I can not stop all from taking free pictures. But, some have ways to make it harder for some.

3. The cheapest is not always the best. Many of you have already made your presence with this type of business practice. I'm not here to copy you but looking for ways to help me.

I'm currently looking to shoot the event, give the site information to the propective clients. And a password if needed, and than upload the pix and let the online proofs sell from there. That way I do not have to print all the proofs out and sell onsite all the time. I will also place a template over the pix for copyright and hinder the screen printing as much as possible.

I know that this is old stuff here, but I have done some research and would like more research on "your" experience(s) with this subject.

And thanks for taking the time to help me. Please ask me if you have any questions.

Hello,

There is a pretty good solution out there for you! I use it personally and many others and it does everything that you are asking for. The "software" is called Photo cart. Find more informations about it here:
Photography Shopping Cart - Pictures Pro

It has:
- a great community forum
- many image upload options
- ability to put many discount options
- password protected gallery
- many payment options
- slide show
- a lot of packages option
- different shipping options

It is really design for photographer.

Say hello to Tim (he his the guy how wrote the software) from Claude...

If you are looking for onsite proofing solution, then my software/hardware might help you also + it ties in perfectly with photocart. Therefore it makes it very easy to get the picture from the event to the web. To get more info about my solution, click the link below.

For hosting service, I use bluehost.com. It is cheap and reliable.

Hope this help you.

If you want another less expensive option try Breeze Browser. We set-up the whole thing in a few hours to our exact liking and since we had Breeze, it was free. I'm not sure about uploading to a host site though. I upload to my own and prefer to keep my own control over that.

With all the value you get from photocart, it's really worth to spent the $, especially if you plan to sell online. You can upload your pictures over FTP or with a supplied software called "the uploader". This is exactly what you get with photocart, CONTROL. If you are talking about control with the provider, well bluehost offer me shell access, database, php, cgi, 300Gb of space, 300Gb/month of brandwith, access log +++. What else do you want?
