Was it good for you too?

Yesterday was the last event of the year for us. We completed 46 events and ended up with a 20% increase in revenue over last year. It would have been higher but Steve, my photographer, had a motorcycle accident in mid-October. He broke the thumb on his right hand so we had to cancel 4 events. Next year looks to be much busier with much more travel involved. I'd love to hear how everone else's year went.

Norm,

You're the best!

I need a smoke after that.

Re: Was it good for you too?

My year, was slightly lower. ***

**My per/event take was higher.

However I did have some DUD events, but much of this year was based on the market full of GWC or CWHC (companies with hired camers) shooting the events I did, paying an inflated vendor fee.

On that, I did fewer events, but seemed to have one ongoing gig that was very steady at producing income.

2008 looks better all the time.

Ed

Re: Was it good for you too?

We did 1 fewer event but grew sales by 47%. We updated the website to be slightly more friendly and added several more products to the offerings. We increased the amount of marketing that was being done at events. While I doubt that we will see another 47% gain in '08 I am hoping to find ways to trim costs so that the bottom line can continue to grow even if sales level off.

This is kind of disappointing. Out of all the members here, only the three of you have responded. What happened? Everyone can't have gone out of business at the same time? Did you not turn a profit?

Re: Was it good for you too?

Perhaps everybody is away having holidays?

For me, slightly down on last year because in the UK there was an outbreak of Foot & Mouth disease which had the effect of cancelling the last 30% of the equestrian events I usually cover. Oh well, gave me plenty of time to earn money doing something else :-)

Nope, just having a well deserved Xmas holiday

Briefly, I shot 138 events up from 105 in 2006. These were a 40/60 split of sports and social events and nett profit went up by over 50%, so all in all a good year.
