Or Ncomputing multi-head solution this could be interesting... you would have to setup kiosk browser on each station (firefox or explorer in fullscreen). Still you need a processing tower or server for your kiosk to connect to.

Claude, I checked into NComputing and Xtenda a year ago. I bought Xtenda and it was a disaster. I can't recall exactly what the problem was with NComputing but it was not up to Koolu for versatility for sure. With all of these options, it gets to be a non issue when good quality laptops are now so cheap. If one goes down, nothing else is effected.

Doug, I fully understand what you mean! And this is one of the reason why my system went from multi-head to single head.

I have Ncomputing unit here for testing purposes. I have not had the chance to test those out, as it require a windows machine (which I don't have ) But true there are a lot of cheap laptops out there that bring you redundancy. I'm Still waiting the koolu to be ship with 1 Gb of RAM...

Re: Monitor set-up for Event

Claude & Doug,

Thanks to both of you for your reply. I will have two employees working in my area, one the printer & Photoshop Guru, the other the sales assistant/assistant to the printer person. The photos from two Nikons, D2Xs & D3 will be streaming in via WIFI. In a three day weekend, we have around 6,000 to 10,000 photos per equestrian event.

I have been thinking, from what I have seen from ED that it could be too much for the average Joe or Jane to use. Having all of the options and capabilities on it would most likely keep the customers on the viewing stations much longer than I would want. At first, I am planning on four stations for customer viewing. More will be added later via WIFI.

Claude, I will download your product and check it out to see if it fits my needs. Can you tell me if it is multi language capable as I live in Germany and my customers are mostly Germans - 80%, then Americans - 15%, then Dutch - 5%.

Thanks in advance,

Dennis

Re: Monitor set-up for Event

I would recommend you the use of ED digital for your onsite printing need, VERY efficient, you computer person will be free more often to help on the sales.

Yes my system is multi-language capable, but right now you have to choose for a language each event (customers cannot change it themselves) This is something we are looking to add in a near future. But for the moment, yes you can setup a German version if you would like. I like the idea of WiFi kiosk, very feasible.... easy in fact, but you have to be careful with the signal power and I would recommend that you test the speed of everything. What is cool about this, anyone using a laptop could connect to you wireless network and browse trough the pictures!

Best luck in your search, feel free to ask question around, will try to help you out.

And do a screen grab rather than make a purchase?

Good point then protect WiFi using MAC address access permission.... This way, no one will be able to access your network. Or Apply a watermark to those who have that kind of access, but this would require more processing power, but still it is possible.
