viewing stations

Hello everyone,
I have a question to event photographers (sports and the like),
i'm starting a youth action photo company and would like to be able to print and sell onsight at some of the events i will be shooting.
what kind of setups do you use (pro's and con's) regarding laptops, viewing stations(what kind do you prefer, how mny do you use)and printers (what kind do you prefer how many),i've been researching express digital sports event software, can i get away with photoshop cs or too time consuming.
thank you in advance for your time and consideration

Re: viewing stations

You should use Photoshop 6 or 7 they are faster than Express Digital but lag of the record keeping features like print counting. You can do more and better in PS but PS CS is not a choice at this moment it is much slower perhaps when the dot release comes out things may change. Further more CS needs a well tuned system preferably with a separate HD for the scrach disk. You do not need the added features of CS to do Events.

Do a search on this forum there a many topics about viewing stations.

Re: viewing stations

Because it is.
My competition uses it but I can do faster and better. He wants to buy my automation and backgrounds but I am not selling them to him.
An other one uses Teps on a Mac and I am faster than he too.

With two pictures from a camera open I hit a button and it resizes the first, closes it and opens an 8x10 background inserts the picture, color corrects it, sharpens it and goes to the next picture and inserts it and does the rest. This is a team and individual. It takes 4 seconds. No other action required I could send it straight to the printer but prefer the customer to confirm what he/she sees.

Re: viewing stations

Well it look like you have your program together, those other guys sound like they may have some problem.

The way that I shoot with express is first I run my canon capture software in the background and don't let express detect the camera then I hit ctrl F5 to bring the picture to the folder, select the size print and print the image. No, cropping, resizing, sharping or color correction because this is already done before hand.

Re: viewing stations

Take a look at this two programs. It might be better than Capture.
