HUGE PRICE DROP ON ED SOFTWARE

Only $2000 for sports and event software, just announced at PMA.

Hope Kodak and TriPrism's prices drop too!

Re: HUGE PRICE DROP ON ED SOFTWARE

I suspect it will drop more now that Adobe is coming out with 7.0. I still can't see the benifit of express Digital. I can buy a lot of paper and ink for their price.

Re: HUGE PRICE DROP ON ED SOFTWARE

Now with Win2K and XP supporting printer pooling the advantage og using more than one priter is gone too.

But don't forget thatsome body buys one of this special programs they are in business the next day. Also they can teach a school kid in an hour to use it. Special programs also keep track of the prints.

PS 7 does nothing to enhance production.I think all special programs have a jump button to PS and vice versa if more manipulation has to be done.

Will look at this scripting thing.

I requested a hot folder for PS several times, but up to now Adobe has paid no attention. I guess very few need this, cause PS is used mostly to work for hours on a simple image. A Plug in may be viable.

Re: HUGE PRICE DROP ON ED SOFTWARE

I did not purchase Express Digital because I cannot figure out PS!!
I have been using PS since version 3 and I purchased ED for the sole purpose of streamlining the workflow at events which it does very well.
If you don' have the software , don't knock it until you try it.

Re: HUGE PRICE DROP ON ED SOFTWARE

Lots of people who buy ED get it because they can't figgure out Photoshop. However PS 7.0 has built in scripting making it possible for third parties to write automatic macros for P.Shop.

Way to go Adobe. Now all we need is the ability to download images directly from the camera shooting tethered.
Rolland

Quoted from the news section on this site:

"Scripting support on the Mac side isn't new. It's been available through a powerful but pricey Photoshop plug-in called Photoscripter since Photoshop 5.0. But the fact that it's now rolled into Photoshop on both Mac and Windows platforms should make scripting more pervasive for those enticed by its workflow-smoothing possibilities.

Note: Don't be alarmed if you install Photoshop 7.0 and can't make the scripting support go; Adobe plans to make the plug-in that enables scripting available as a free download from the web sometime around the time that Photoshop 7.0 is released."
