Re: Package Printing

I do not use a program. Here is what I do to print 2 different Pictures on one sheet.

In PS make a white 8x10 canvas using the resolution used for printing (I use 240ppi).

With the Rectangular Marquee Tool(feather set to 0) and set to Fixed in "Style." Move your mouse in to the canvas and the selection appears. Move it to the top. Go to channels and click on the Bottom of the palette on the Button which says "Save selection as a Channel". Now move the selection to the bottom of the canvas and again save the selection as a channel. Deselect and save the canvas in My Documents (give it a meaning ful name).

Open 2 pictures resize them and then Do a Ctrl+A (select All) followed by Ctrl+C (Copy) and close your picture. When prompted to save click on No. Now open your canvas go to Select<Load Selection (Alt+S+L) and load Alpha Channel one. Under EDIT click on "Past Into" (Shift+Ctrl+V)

Do the same for the second Picture but this time load Alpha Channel 2.

This gives you the advantage that you can move the pictures around to fit. They sit behind a cutout. If you right click in one of the pictures it activates automatically this layer without need to go into the Palette to activate it. You must have the Move Tool selected to make this trick work. Just hit the V key to selelect the move tool.

You Can Automate this with an Action. Further more you can use the same procedure to make all kind of Packages with same or other sizes and/or pictures.

Hope it's clear to understand.

Norbert

Re: Package Printing

Bill,

I thought that Packagizer used to have prices, I see that now they don't. I seem to remember that they were pretty expensive.

Dennis' metion of Qimage was right on. I have it and it's great. Had a brain lock or I would have mentioned it too. Sometimes we tend to overlook the inexpensive stuff.

Re: Package Printing

Hi, You might want to check out Qimage Pro.
Its only $35 and does package printing and resizes your images to fit the package templates. The algorithyms it uses result in the best quality and sharpest looking prints I've ever gotten. http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage/

Re: Package Printing

You can create a new package for the 8660 using their "Custom Package" feature as described in the Export Module Guide.

I haven't done it yet for my new 8660, but it looks pretty straight-forward.

Re: Package Printing

I use the built-in print template in Fotostaion 4.5 which is the same program I use to browse, loss-less rotate, caption, and just about everything else to my images unless there is a special need for PS.
