Re: Event Software?

Hi Norbert - yes, I do use more than 1 printer, and ED's printer management is good. However the speed of use comes from (1) the ease of finding & showing several different pix from an event, (2) fast & easy cropping / repositioning, and (3) one click & forget printing with no wait for spooling etc. I do not use borders much but they can also be selected & applied quickly. As agreed before, ED does not do anything that PS cannot do in image handling, though it has a definite edge in printing. Your familiarity with PS is vastly more comprehensive than mine, and ED may have less to offer you than me.
Peter.

Re: Event Software?

Norbert, this is why I use both PS and ED. For the "whack 'em out in volume package stuff", ED is great. For the more "quality", for lack of a better way to put it, PS it the way to go. Both sure have there place on my system

Re: Event Software?

The newest version of PC PRO allows to shoot into a filmstrip tethered with Nikon D1 and Canons D30 and has a Jumper to open the picture in PS.

That is great so I will probably use my dust covered PC Pro.

You are right there are Events ED is the one to use. I just do not do those Events.

Norbert

Re: Event Software?

Norbert, how did you get your upgrade to PC Pro? Is it on Kodak's web site? Does it work with the new 1D?

Re: Event Software?

Here is the link. Click under Service and Suport. It's free. Make sure you first upgrade the dongle befor you upgrade the software.

As I sais so often. I do not use Kodak PC Pro, but with D1 and D30 suport I might use it just to tether the camera to shoot into the filmstrip and then jump to Photoshop with the new Jump button, then do all work in PS.

web page

Re: Event Software?

Norbert,

Could you give me some help on making a template with Alpha channels? I have been playing with it but how do you get the image to be the same size as the template? When I did it the image was much larger so only a small portion showed up and I had to use transform to make it smaller? How do you create the mask and then how do you get the pictures into it? Paste, Paste into, etc?

Thanks
Glen

Re: Event Software?

Glen I guess you are speaking doing it in Photoshop.

Whit your graphic opengo to Image < Image Size and read the dimensions. If they are not the same as your picture then change them. The Resolution must be the same. I use 240 dpi for my Epsons.

To create the Alpha use any selection tool, but to get started and make it easy use the Oval tool and give it a 25px feather. position the outline where you want it to be go to Channels Palette and on the bottom click on the Save Selection as a Channel.

When done deselect the selection and do a save if you opened your graphic from a folder or a Save As if it is a new one.

Now open your graphic go to Select < Load selection and click on Alpha 1. Your selection should now show. Now go to your picture and resize it a little bigger than the channel(make sure it's the same Resolution in dpi) do a Select All followed by a Edit < Copy. This puts it on the Clippboard. Now close the picture (when prompted click on no save)Now go to Edit < Past Into.Thats it.

Sorry for all that seemingly stupid language, but I do not know better. Still struggling with english.

Norbert
