Re: Event Software?

Hell yes there is need for other software programs. I was interested in Express Digital and willing to pay the $4000.00 plus they want for the software program. They also want $800.00 per year for upgrades. Then I found out they have two programs: One for events and one for portraits and weddings. Who can afford $8000.00 plus for two software programs plus $1600 per year for updates. I don't expect a software engineer to work for nothing (I don't) but I don't want them retiring off one sale either.

Re: Event Software?

Gentlemen

Just purchased Express Digital Sport and Event software in December. Best $5000.00 I ever spent. After hacking away at events with photoshop 6 for a year believe me this is incredible. The price initially choked me up but if you get a chance to try it or see a demo you will see why its priced like it is. Besides this software is to streamline the workflow and make you money which it does. Also very user friendly. My 10 year old can print with it. www.fxphoto.com

Re: Event Software?

Rob. Now tell me what PS can not do better than those Event Programs.

I own PC pro and i am not using it. Have the Express demo and again I can do much better with PS 5, 5,5 or 6.01. The only exception is if I would need 2 or more printers working at the same time, but then 2 computers each with a printer would be more efficient.

Don,t get me wrong but I know PS very well ind can do things with it you can only dream about with those programs.

I know that people in the Event business are behind the GREENS and don't have the time to learn PS, so it is natural to spend the money to be in business the same day.

Re: Event Software?

Norbert, we also have recently purchased Express Digital. Let me first say that I have not seen one single thing, other than the event management side of Express Digital, that PS6 cannot do. However, here are a couple that we use very often that are much faster in Express Digital. I can shoot green screen, pick up my image and the drop-out happens automatically, near instantaneously and with great accuracy. I also have the ability to tweak the settings, much easier than in PS6, and I did try with the same images in both, as a trial before we paid the money. The second thing is that when I add a border Express Digital allows me to scale and move the image within the border very easily. Can't do that in PS, at least not that I am aware of. The image manipulation in Express Digital is rudimentary compared to PS, but you can work images in PS and then use them in Express Digital as well. And let's not forget about the package printing, much more comprehensive. Now, I must also say that the "demo" they sent us was totally worthless, it was simply a slide show of screen shots. We called and they sent us a trial that we worked with for a week or so before funds were transferred. Try that with the full version, I was amazed. One other nice thing is that after you apply a border treatment you can save the image to a file for later use as well.

Hope this helps.

You can do that with the move tool if you have your picture Pasted in versus a simple past. I have actions with 15% Bigger and smaller and the pictures are always centered also done in an actions.

With a 1 Gig Pentium 3 and 576 Ram I resize a picture from the camera drop it in to the background color correct it sharpen it and send it to the printer. All in about 10 sec. depending on the size.

In respect to the Package printing I can do that with my own templates with premade sizes, and not only the same picture but 2, 3 or more different ones all with a click of a button. it takes about 20 t0 25 sec on an 8x10 with 4 4x5s.

Further I have 30 backgrounds to chose from. The customer pick one beforhand and while its printing I show them 2 0r 3 more with related temes and very often I sell more pictures.

The green screen in Express or PC Pro is excellent but the overall quality in Express is so bad I could not sell many picture.

What Software are you working on?

Norbert
