Doing a slide show at the event

I am doing a large car show and selling prints on site.

I am being asked to produce a slide show at the banquet dinner using approx. 150 photo images which I would have to display on either a large screen T.V. or a projection type screen. I understand that I can rent or purchase a data projector to do so but the cost of this is prohibitive for me right now (renting the projector will set me back $600.00 which the event organizers do not want to pay). So this leaves a large screen T.V. My question: How can I take my photo images from my computer and display them as a slide show onto a T.V. screen??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I am using a Nikon D1, iBook, Adobe Photoshop 6.0. I also own Nikon Capture if this helps.

The easiest way I could suggest, Walker, would be to purchase an Iomega Fotoshow (http://www.iomega.com/fotoshow/fotoshow.html) for around $200 and load your images into that. The device has direct connects to TV screens and pretty good software to do exactly what you want.

If they are not willing to pay for it they must not want it too bad. You should be able to rent a projector for the day for less than 600. You don't need the best. You can buy a good canon projector for less than $2000.

Re: Doing a slide show at the event

Dear Mike:

Thanks for the tip on the Canon projector. I will check this out. When I looked into renting, being in the middle of Montana, where there were NO data projectors at all for sale or rent, I had to look outside the state for a rental. With mail time and a day for learning and test runs, I was looking at renting for about a week, hence the large price tag. Not knowing much about data projectors, I did look at renting the one with the best resolution. It's good to know that this isn't necessary. Thanks for the input.

An all in one video card can do this. ATI, among others have video out on some of their cards. Hook computer up direct to the TV. Mirrors whats on your computer screen. For slide shows, we use Kai's Power Show. Scansoft now owns it.
