Most profitable events

In my business, we take the action pictures (or team pictures) and print them out on site -- not sure if everyone else is doing that. But I am sure we are all interested in hearing what others most profitable events are. Specifically, your best events . . the ones that make you the most money. Include time spent at the shoot also.

I have made $1500 - $2000 at 2-day hockey, skating, baseball, gumnastics tournaments. I have found if the event is too large, it is hard to sell a lot of photos. I am looking for good one-day events or anything creative. I want to try out BMX racing, Body building shows, Horse Shows, Team pictures at big softball etc tournaments, golf outings, . . . what about your experiences?

Can you expound on this more? I am new to events type work and looking to expand in this area. It seems like a natural area since my "normal" business is during work hours and this would be during my down time (evenings/weekends). Do you shoot and print on site? Do you pay any fees to the host group? Do you set up at events like baseball tournaments and just do players action shots? Give me some clues... Thanks,
