iPad as part of photographer’s workflow

While this is an interesting write-up, I’m deeply skeptical about this procedure making any practical sense.

There are a lot of things I'm finding the iPad appealing for, but this is not one of them.

Now, what I think would be really interesting is if my DSLR and my iPad could establish an ad hoc wireless network and my camera could pump “tethered” JPEG proxy images to the iPad for immediate review and forwarding on to internet services like flickr.

While I wouldn't buy an iPad just for this feature, it appears the optional wireless transmitter of the Canon 7D works with the iPhone, iPod Touch and i would assume iPad.

"With the WFT-E5A, and Canon EOS Utility, photographers can pair their camera wirelessly through a browser or dedicated software for complete remote Live View composing, shooting and image transfer. This means easy control of the shoot through a computer, netbook, iPod Touch or iPhone, onsite or off, and is a simple and effective way to confirm and shoot no matter the physical location of the subject and photographer."

EOS (SLR) Camera Systems - EOS Digital SLR Cameras - Lenses - Flashes - Wireless File Transmitters - Software Applications - Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E5A - Canon USA Consumer Products
