Recently picked this up and from initial trials it works as well as anything I've used previously. Need more time to evaluate it's full potential, but I do like the diffuser. As for flash brackets, I just posted my agreement with Mike's glowing appraisal of the RRS Wedding Pro Flash Bracket.
Persistent aren't you! Two definitions of "Research" are as follows:
re·searchPronunciation[ri-surch, ree-surch]–noun
1.
diligent and systematic inquiry or investigation into a subject in order to discover or revise facts, theories, applications, etc.: recent research in medicine.
2. to investigate carefully
In this case, I chose #2. Since I've owned/own, and used/use a variety of flash brackets over the years, including those from Custom Bracket, Newton, Stroboframe, Wimberly, RRS, etc., I have a pretty good idea of what works for me. From my "research" into the Demb Flash Bracket, i.e. primarily visiting his website and reading/viewing it's description, it has features that I don't like. Among those are the angled orientation of the flash in either portrait or landscape position, it's location on the grip side of the body and possible close hand clearance issues, and particularly it's use of a base tripod thread/screw location mounting approach. The RRS Wedding Pro has none of these shortcomings, with straight flash orientation, left hand location, and Arca Swiss style bracket mounting on the side, leaving the camera base free for tripod mounting.
Not persisitent, Curious. I learn from asking opinions of others with experience.
I was hoping you'd share what works and/ or doesn't work for you. The things you've mentioned had me curious as well in regards to the Demb. Being I've never used any bracket, I was unsure if this would be an issue. I did try a strobo quick flip once, didn't like it and returned it.
The RSS seems to have another piece at the top that flips....is this an extension or for placing on the other side of the lens for directional or what?
$100ish bucks is a lot to fork out on a product you may not like. Sadly, we have no more photo stores in my area. Well, ritz, but like I said...no camera stores. I can't go in and try out gear and see how it feels.
But, what may work for one will not for another.
Thanks for taking time to fill me in! Have a great day.
