I'm planning to use a Magic Arm for mounting a remote camera and would like to put an Arca Swiss type clamp (probably one from Really Right Stuff or Kirk) on the Magic Arm. The
Manfrotto Camera Plate is kind of a pain to use and doesn't inspire a whole lot of confidence. Does anybody have any advice on the wisdom of doing this or suggestions on what parts to use?
Since the Magic Arm is threaded for a 1/4-20 fastener on one end and a 3/8-16 on the other, I could attach a clamp directly, but there is nothing to stop a clamp mounted there from rotating (other than some Locktite and a well torqued fastener). Another option would be to use something like a
Bogen 3012 Rapid Adapter to hold the clamp. It would have the advantage of being easily removable and of clamping to the flat on the side of the spigot on the Magic Arm -- but ultimately it is still a single point of attachment with nothing but torque and Locktite to prevent unwanted rotation.
Any other ideas?
Thanks, Doug
