Really great sling bag.

My wife has a Lowepro Slingshot 200, and I've been envious, but it is not big enough for my gear. This last weekend I got the new Slingshot 300. What a beautiful design.

It holds my 1D2 with the 100-400 attached (lens hood reversed) in the center compartment. In the other compartments I have the 16-35, 28-135 (reversed lenshoods) and 15mm fisheye, as well as my 500EX flash.

There is also a roomy compartment for other stuff. In addition to the strap that holds the bag in place there is a padded waist strap that distributes the weight and stabilizes the bag.

Just about everything that fit in my Reporter Stealth 650 fits nicely into the Slingshot. Access to thethree lenses I use most often is fast and easy.

I think the design of the bag is ingenious, and when accessing the gear, it slides around to mid-chest level with a cover that opens outward.

Here's a link to see the bag:

Re: Really great sling bag.

Indeed, Walter, I saw this announcement today. I hate schlepping and generally try not to carry anything larger than a waist pack. (The more I carry, the worse my photography.) But I've had the 200 since it was introduced and agree that it's really a terrific design, albeit a little small for a longer lens. This 300 seems to address that issue.

This is a a very comfortable design, i own the Slingshot 200 which i like, but the Slingshot 300 is the ticket. I can carry the 100-400 with no problem. It is a well designed bag.

Re: Really great sling bag.

Let me add my endorsement to the Slingshot 300AW.

I have just returned from a two week intense tour of Egypt and schlepped a 5D plus three lenses plus flash and assorted goodies around with lots of walking, camel riding and hot air ballooning. It worked great and was not too obtrusive on the streets of Cairo.

The 300's hip belt helps make this a terrific travel kit that is easy on the back. I could have carried more but I too have found that the lighter the load; the better the photography.

From a guy who has more bags than WalMart...this one is a keeper.

Cheers,
John
