laptop mounted on tripod

hi

for shooting tethered i am looking for a way to mount a small laptop (sony tr1) to a regular tripod head. I found a few stand solutions, but i would like to use one of my existing tripods. any ideas?

Re: laptop mounted on tripod

Within the last year someone wanted a similar solution and ended up preferring a canvas-type tray hund within the legs of the tripod. It seemed more secure and less vulnerable.

Have not time to search the archives myself, but it will be there.

Re: laptop mounted on tripod

Bogan makes a tray that is for projectors, it works great for my Mac powerbook, it was around $59. a year ago, I use a bogan side arm with 2 head attachment and put the laptop on one side and the camera on the other, it is heavy but keeps everything stable

side arm B&H# BO3153 $72.

Monitor/projector platform BO3290 $34.

use the BO numbers for a B&H search

Re: laptop mounted on tripod

I use a Bogan two head cross arm and mount a Gitzo monitor tray on one side and my d1X on the other. I had to go with the Gitzo tray becase the Bogan tray isn't large enough to hold the 17" powerbook. I use this rig mounted on a large Gitzo tripod with a crank center column which makes it very smooth to go up and down. Overall its very stable and balanced.

Re: laptop mounted on tripod

I've been using the InStand in press rooms where I can sit and have the laptop just in front of me. The stand itself is not too sturdy but the actual tray part of it has a standard tripod thread and could be easily mounted on a regular tripod for more stability.

Cheers,

Paul
