wacom USB hub problem

Just got a Wacom tablet and I've had trouble with it. Works fine for a time, then, although the tablet shows its powered and tapping the pen or clicking the mouse turns the light on the tablet from orange to green, the cursor does not move. To make a long story shorter, I think I may have a hub problem. A couple of times when dealing with the glitch I got a "not enough power to the hub device" warning on the screen. If I hook the Wacom directly to the computer- disconnecting the hug altogether, it works fine. However that leaves me with no hub and consequently no printer, CD burner, scanner or Palm cradle hooked up. (actually it's a 4 port hub so I have to unplug one of those devices to plug in the wacom...ususally the CD burner). Is there such a thing as a hub with more power than another? Any ideas?

Re: wacom USB hub problem UPDATE

This may not be a hub problem only. I tried connecting the wacom directly to the computer USB (disconnecting the plugin that services the hub) and the wacom worked fine initially....until I restarted the computer during some other task. Then the wacom couldn't move the cursor again. Perhaps it's something about rebooting? I'm off to call Wacom help.

FIXED!!!!

Wacom "HELP" fixed it..great service. Apparently there are conflict issues with some other devices such as, in my case, Palm software. We dealt with that...great deal of patience required...and it's solved at this point.I'm posting this is hope that it will help someone else. I noticed that a number of people have looked at this post...perhaps you also have a problem and were looking for an answer.

Re: wacom USB hub problem

hi,

you need to have a powered hub. If not the wacom drains to much energy and stops working.
hope this helps.

Re: FIXED!!!!

John,

What did WACOM tell you about conflict with Palm software. I've narrowed my Palm loosing sync capability down to conflict with WACOM but have not been able to resolve conflict.

sure I'm not the only one.

Cheers,

Dave
