G9 and old teleadaptor?

I love my G9 despite the useless optical finder. Today, I found a box with an old Olympus B300 (equivalent to the Oly Tcon something or other) 1.7x converter.

Does anybody here know whether the Canon lens adaptor will allow me to use the B300 with a 58-55mm stepdown ring without having the G9's lens hit the rear element of the B300?
