Adobe just posted LR 1.2 which can read G9 Raw. I've converted a few and posted them (full-size tiffs with no adjustments made in LR) at
Index of /G9
These are at iso 200, 100 and 80
They're no 5D files, but i'm impressed. There's a very small amount of fringing, but they are sharp and not noisy at all at iso 80/100. 200 has an acceptable amount of grain for me, though it is noticable in the shadows. 400 has noticable grain, but not too bad, I have to say. I haven't shot at 800, and 1600 is pretty noisy, but it's not all that ugly - if you were a fan of pushing b&w film, you won't be bothered. It's not as bad as Recording Film - about where Tmax p3200 was maybe.
The feel of the camera in my hand is very good. As with the G7, it is solid, and simple to use. The new LCD is fantastic, even in full sun. The optical viewfinder is not as accurate as it could be.
Autofocus, as noted in earlier posts, is very fast, but you have to turn off Image Stabilization. The AF assist works well in low light - slower than in full sun, but not by much. The shutter lag, especially if you pre-focus, is hardly noticable. There are some quirks to the AF which I haven't quite figured out yet - it's faster in some situations than in others.
This is my new favorite camera. I've been turning off the lcd to save batteries, then shooting with the optical finder, making sure to compensate for the finder.
If anyone has a specific test they'd like me to do, I'll try to.
