How are you using your P&S?

Hi All,

firstly I want to say I am brand new to this forum as a paid up member. I registered a number of years back but haven't visited these forums at all in several years.
Ok, so as a full time "pro" (yes, it's how I make ALL my income) I would like to hear from other full timers who use a P&S in some capacity in their job. Like so many other's here I have my work horses, but I'd like to have something to carry with me at all times (right now it's the wife's Nikon CP3200).
To give you an idea of what kind of feedback I'm looking for I'll tell you how I envisage using a P&S.
I would use it to capture locations, lighting, potential models, products, quick mock ups, discovery field trips, and anywhere else that serendipity might strike (ie. hikes, camping, general life).
Lucky finds and pieces of gold tend to tarnish fairly quickly at 3MP......

So how are other pros using their P&S cameras? And which camera do you use?

Thanks in advance,

Todd.

Todd
Don't use mine to earn a living, but as an adjunct to my visual memory, as your post suggests. My pick is the Canon SD700IS as these threads explain:

Canon SD 700 IS

Canon SD 700 IS

Many others use larger fixed focal length lens cameras allowing for a wider field of view. While I would have appreciated that aspect as well, I was more impressed with the quality of the lens in the SD700IS vs SD800IS which has 28mm equivelant. Other qualities as well and saved $100, with the primary attribute of very small so easily carried all the time. Best for me, but obviously with all the offerings, many others have their own preferences. Good luck in choosing a new one, as I'm sure you're wife would appreciate getting hers back! Or would she expect the new one??

Re: How are you using your P&S?

Hi Richard,

thanks for the response. I'll have a look at this asap. I'm hoping to keep my wife's hands off the new camera.
I was hoping for a little more feedback on how (if at all) others were using their P&S as opposed to their DSLRs.....

Cheers,

Todd.

Re: How are you using your P&S?

I use my Nikon S6 (egads he used the "N" word!) when wandering around the ramp at the airport
dragging the 1D2n out creates too much of a stir but no one seems to care about the
small P&S...I use a really small Gorilla pod with it too cool stuff that!
