Re: The perfect travel kit...

Hi Tony,

That's a valid comment. Let me explain what professional means to me.

I write and photograph travel (pre-sold) stories for magazines therefore it is not critical that my photos be shot to stock agencies' specs. As long as the photos can fill a page of a magazine with sharp, saturated and interesting content, my editors are good with that. I know that requires 10 megs of resolution...12 megs would be better.

What is most important is to have the camera with you. If it is back in the hotel room because you are too bagged from carrying the DSLR kit all day then that is useless. What I want is a good carry camera with me all the time. Yes, I will take along the DSLR on the trip too for when I have predetermined shots lined up, but when one is exploring miles of unknown turf on foot with the monster DSLR on your back, it takes a lot of the fun out of it now that my legs (and the rest of me) have gotten older.

When I get back from a weeklong road trip, yes packing the 1Ds MkII and 5D set, then I will design the ideal camera in my mind and share it with you on another thread.

Cheers,

John

Re: The perfect travel kit...

John,

Understood.

In which case I'll sell you my 350D or you could go out and buy the 400D.

Having done nothing more than drive 40 miles outside London for a couple of nights staying next to the Thames and carrying my 5D looking for shots I'd have far preferred to have had the 350D on my shoulder - but my future masters degreed full frame chip and that is what I can now supply.

Rgds

Tony
