Which point and shoot with Raw files

Dear fellow photographers:

I am looking for a point and shoot delivering RAW files instead of jpegs only.

Any suggestions?

Tanks in advance

Re: Which point and shoot with Raw files

I'm interested in the same thing. There were a few cameras announced at photokina this year. I'm waiting to hear more as they begin to be released. Unfortunately, the Canon G7 does not support RAW, as it seems that Canon will only include RAW support in its DSLR cameras. If you need something right away, I used to shoot with a Fuji E550 and got great results. There's a newer version, the 9-something, which a friend shoots with and loves.

Ricoh GRD.

I bought one for my wife and now use it more than she does.

My other cameras? The 350D and a 1Ds. Says something for the Ricoh.

Rgds

Re: Which point and shoot with Raw files

I own a Canon PowerShot G5. It captures excellent images and support raw format. I was saddened when I saw the G7 does not. It has L series glass in it, has a fast aperture, and 4x zoom range. If you can find a used G5, I recommend it.

Re: Which point and shoot with Raw files

Thanks Tony, Walter and JLipkin for your reply.
Actually I do want it for my wife and very probably will be using it too: as you Tony.

I am so tired of buying negative 35mm for her pictures when we go on vacation.

I think she will enjoy going into digital.

I'll check for that Ricoh as well as the Canon G5, and JLipkin it would be great if they are released soon.

Regards to all

Jorge

Re: Which point and shoot with Raw files

I for one am excited about Sigma's DP1 - a point and shoot with a big Foveon sensor. No optical viewfinder, though I might just epoxy one on the top. I think it might be a while before it hits market, though. The front of the camera shows a fixed focus lens, while the back has wide/telephoto zoom buttons. In an interview, a Sigma spokesman says the camera will come out early 2007.

"No optical viewfinder, though I might just epoxy one on the top"

None on the Ricoh either. But the optical on the hot shoe is a good compromise and takes up little more pocket space.
