Re: How to tell US from grey market camera

That would make me nervous. At least with a big ticket item like a pro DSLR or exotic lens. I'd worry about where their parts would be coming from, how long they would make the commitment to servicing the item, and what would happen if you have a stumper of a problem.

B&H is big enough that I'd think that they would have a big and competent service organization, but they'd still be stuck if they got to the point where they needed the vendor's resources. Perhaps at that point they'd just replace the item. Does anybody have any experience with how they support gray market items?

Re: How to tell US from grey market camera

My recollection is that Canon (unlike Nikon) honors warrantee in us/ca regardless, but it may not qualify for CPS, but I could be wrong.

Search here for "grey market canon" and I think you'll find this confirmed. But note that it may not be official policy, but long time practice.

Re: How to tell US from grey market camera

Thanks for that info on how Canon would service this equipment. I guess the key here is that it is new, and the warranty is important from the standpoint of repairs in the first little while if there are issues.

Too bad there aren't any camera store salesmen on the forum to tell if there is a difference in packaging for USA vs grey products.
