Re: suggestions for _robust_ compact?

"I have not tried to enlarge up to A3, but up to the A4 I have printed I'd be hard pushed to tell the difference. The only clear weakness is the noise at the higher ASA settings, but who wants to cart around a 350D when you go out to dinner when the GR will slip into a pocket"

I have a friend who had a gallery show in a well-known Manhattan gallery, and published a book with a major publisher. The images were captured for the most part with a Fuji E550.

I've never been bothered by noise. The samples I've seen online don't look too bad up to 800. As for the noise at 1600, I shot for years with Kodak Recording film which I pushed to 3200 or even 6400. Made Tmax 3200 look smooth.

Re: suggestions for _robust_ compact?

I have a Ricoh GRD which I bought on Tony's recommendation. No regrets.

You can see some sample pictures HERE. The thumbnails are large but will enlarge further if you click them or click on the slideshow. The camera was set to shoot HQ JPEGs. The action shots are cropped out of a larger picture so you can see some "grain". IMO it gives a nice documentary look.
