Canon G6 Field Report

Just wanted to report in that I took my G6 out snowmobiling daily for 4 days in cold and relatively harsh battery weather and this camera did a great job. Shot about 300+ images on a 2gig card shooting raw and the battery NEVER died. Boy, batteries and these cameras have come along way.

Re: Canon G6 Field Report

Robert, thanks for taking the time to post the link. I am interested in buying a G6 for vacation and I was curious about the camera. Its the last compact I think Canon made that shoots in RAW. Too bad they disconinued it.

Re: Canon G6 Field Report

HI Tim,

That is why I purchased this camera; for the RAW feature. It is quite a large camera though and it was necessary for me to purchase an additional PNS that I could fit in my pocket. The G6 I throw in my snowmachine dashboard pocket and also on my tank bag of my motorcycle. It seems to take the vibration and tossing around fairly well.

-Robert

PS....Also, I purchased a wide angle adapter and rarely shoot without it.

Re: Canon G6 Field Report

I've got the G5 and love it. I think the fact that it uses the same battery as my 20D, has a hot shoe and has the ability to shoot raw is great. I am love the fact that I can throw on my 580 and get dead on flash photos. The G6 I believe does a much better job at high iso files, but that doesn't really bother my a whole lot. A wide angle adapter would be nice.

When I had my G3 I never took mine off.
