Re: Anyone got a Ricoh GR Digital????

Tony, Michael, et all,

I took my new Ricoh GRD out this afternoon and made a few snapshots. I have to admit that I'm quite pleased with my new camera. Click HERE to view some of the snapshots I took today.

Thanks for talking me into the GRD. It's a wonderful camera.

Alan

Re: Anyone got a Ricoh GR Digital????

Has anyone tried experimenting with RAW.

I have been put off by talk about the write speed.

In the dpReview forum there is chat about altering the settings for 1600 ASA shots on the lines of reducing the saturation to -2 and increasing the contrast to +2. But, of course this is for shooting jpg.

It seemed to me that a better solution would be to shoot RAW and do the tinkering in a decent image processor. The manual also says that RAW cannot support the 1600 ASA speed, but in the other forum people say that is nonsense.

And then the big problem is how to process one's RAW files. Bibble and BreezeBrowser do not support the Ricoh. I am reluctant to go to Lightroom which I have never bothered with.

I am told that Elements will convert it. I will investigate further.

Lots of questions and no firm ideas from me I am afraid.

Oh, and the other thing, I read in that other forum that the reason why RAW takes so long to re-load is because the camera has no buffer. That suggests that another quest is for the fasted SD card one can find.

It would be nice to re-activate this Ricoh thread after all you folks have had some time to test and challenge your little cameras.

Bye for now.
