Re: GR 400 iso examples

Bob,

I understand your point but if you look at the info. beneath my name you'll see that I've been here contributing to and learning from this forum since 2000. I've written several extensive articles for free for Luminous-Landscape over the past few years and it's my understanding that they've been useful to some photographers. So, let's consider things in perspective. If you'd feel better verifying the free advice I've also been giving on at least four different boards for several years now, e-mail me and I'll point you to it. There's always a larger picture.

Cheers,

Sean

No need to verify, Sean, I'm sure you have. In the future, if you don't post your answer to questions in forums but simply refer us to your website, we'll be prepared to become paid subscribers in order to access that info. Works for me, now that I know. Bob Krist

This is off-topic, I know, but seeing that Bob Krist is here I would like to thank him for writing the book "Secrets of Lighting on Location". It's probably the most condensed, enjoyable and straightforward book on the subject, and has taught me a lot. Thanks for sharing!

GR 400 iso examples *removed*

As of today I've had to remove those high iso sample files of Edmonds linked to earlier in the thread - the number of downloads was using up my entire site bandwidth! Certainly is a lot of interest in the GR...

Hi John,

Thanks for keeping them up there so long!
I got an external finder for my GR a couple of weeks ago and love it! I just wish Ricoh would come up with a firmware upgrade that keeps the back screen off constantly; even with it switched off, it comes on once focus has been locked! Dohh!

Edmond

Hi Edmond,

Hot shoe viewfinder for the myopic like Christine and myself. Brilliant.

Do you leave the viewfinder on when you put the camera in your pocket?

Rgds

Tony

Re: GR 400 iso examples *removed*

Edmond I read somewhere (DPReview probably)that another GR owner used an LCD hood which completely folded down over the rear screen to get around the fact that the screen always comes on. Not very neat maybe but practical. Definitely something Ricoh should address.
Btw - if anyone wants to get an idea of the fun I've been having with my GR I've put a little Flickr gallery together: http://www.flickr.com/photos/johncar...7594056344136/
