Re: GR focus speed

Tony

....I don't think it does it on the Ricoh, as the flash popped up when I had the finder attached - only to be stopped half way by the shape of the finder!

I shall keep you posted on my solution!

Woody,

Great - shall check out the finders! Are you using one?? Does it line up accurately??

Cheers,

Edmond

Re: GR focus speed

I'm using the Voitlander 28. Interestingly, it has rougly the correct 3x4 aspect ratio. As far as I can tell the framing in the viewfinder is slightly smaller than the camera image - this is probably by design.

Re: GR focus speed

Edmond,

I don't suppose you've tried using the GR up a compact step ladder yet?

Re: GR focus speed

Noooo not the return of the stepladder.....
Edmond/Woodrow, would you be prepared to post a full size GR example featuring a person as the main subject, either figurative or portait style? Or a couple of relevant 100% crops if you don't want to upload a complete image. I'm having immense difficulty locating any sample 'people' photos. Although found some great street photography examples with the GR here (if anyone else is interested):-

(if you register with Flickr you get the option to see exif info -if the originating photographer has specified this and also larger/full size images).

Re: GR focus speed

Markus,

LOL!!!!! Not yet!!! I was thinking of the "CSL" thread earlier today!!!

John,

I would, but don't have anything to hand! I've shot some party stuff with flash, and a few shots of a friend with flash.
I'll try and do a few portraits tomorrow. Anyone got any web space I could stick them on??? Not sure if I'll have enough space on my site.

Edmond

GR Start Up Noise?

Hello, I was wondering if any of the GR Digital owners could help me out here - I am considering buying one of these but Im concerned about the noise it will make (I currently use manual rangefinders) when turning it on and the lens is extending, camera pre-focusing, etc. The shot-to-shot focusing noise doesnt matter too much since Ill probably always have it pre-set to get past the lag but the pre-set sound is important. Is it as loud as a film camera of similar style doing this stuff, say a Contax T3? Since its digital I imaging the battery would die if I kept it on all day and I may have to turn it off and on to get a shot, but if the shot hears it and goes away then its no good for me as a camera. Or can I keep it on all day, maybe 12 hours, and have it fall asleep automatically then tap the shutter to wake it up? I hope it has a good battery. Thanks for the help!

David

Re: GR focus speed

Hi Edmond, I've got a bit of spare webspace (about 12mb's or so) if you want to send me the shot(s) I'll put them up. (Only fair seeing as how I'm the one asking for the samples...)
