S60 or A2?

I already have a digital pro camera and am looking for a smaller digicam to keep with me when the bigger guns are at home. If money was not an issue would you get the S60 for the size or would you get an 8mp like the Minolta A2 for the file size? I may need both, but not wanting to buy both and realize they would almost serve two different purposes. Any wisdom out there? Thanks.

Re: S60 or A2?

I have made a decision! I am going to get the new Olympus Verve as a pocket camera (I am officially on the list at my local camera store) and will later decide what sub_dslr I may get. Enjoy your life.

Re: S60 or A2?

I have tried 2 different S60 cameras. I was disatisfied with image quality on both - they just did not produce definition I had expected/hoped for. Also found focus accuracy inconsistent, especially for distant objects.
Now have an Ixus 500 which I love and am constantly surprised by image quality it produces. Fits easily in breast pocket and goes everywhere with me.

Re: S60 or A2?

I bought mines 60 mostly because of the wide angle and
underwaterhousing .

I don't like noise at higher ASA , but the camera is small
and I keep it in my bag all the time .

I would probably buy it again despite some "issues"

Re: S60 or A2?

Just got back from carting the S60 around through the Olympics, the Alps, and parts of Europe for five weeks. As a day-to-day 10D user, I'm wholly impressed with the color, definition and flexibility of this little camera. And the 28mm equivalent is fabulous. Rarely regretted leaving all my heavy lenses home with this thing in my pocket. No buyer's remorse whatsoever. And the short-burst video quality is pretty darned impressive, to boot. With the underwater housing, it'll be the perfect ski/boating camera.

Re: S60 or A2?

I have the A2 and extremely happy with the results. I like the shapness of the images. I have allowed my asistant to use it as a less intimidating camera during weddings and my clients like the results as well. Anti shake has let me get great shots at iso 200 200mm and 1/60 of a second.
