Determining sunrise/set location via GPS

I would like to know what time and where on the horizon the sun will be rising and setting. Various articles on the net mention Magellan GPS, but I haven't found specific instructions nor have any of the wiz kids at the electronic stores been able to show me.

Anyone doing this?

Peace, Curt

There is a little tool about the same size as a hand held compass that will do this, here in the Uk it costs about £20.00

Hi Robert -

It would be very helpful if you could tell us the brand name so we can find out what you're referencing, how it works, where to find it, etc.

thanks,

If you have a PDA (windows version), then the program Ephemeris found here
is useful. It's probably not as accurate as a GPS system, but it's free.

Ephemeris for Windows (e.g. a desktop or laptop) is also available free here:

Re: Determining sunrise/set location via GPS

I ran across the following product on photographer/writer Tom Hogan's website:

CASIO FORESTER WATCH Need to know when the sun rises or sets? What phase the moon is in and where it will be at any given time? Check out this watch, it'll even tell you when the best time to fish is!
http://www.bythom.com/gadgets.htm - Tom’s website and original reference and detail.

Also as Tom writes, the watch is available in a hunting or fishing version at Cabela’s on-line store for $50.

I also found it through Amazon:

Casio Pathfinder Watch with Hunting Timer
List Price: $49.99

Price: $29.50

You Save: $20.49 (41%)

Availability: In Stock. Ships from and sold by Ace Photo Digital

I do not own one of these watches. However I plan on ordering one.
