Determining sunrise/set location via GPS

So sorry to hear that you are using Vista Ron! The program works well on my Macs.

Yes, I would still like a good GPS solution that I can use in the woods, Grand Canyon, etc., but this thing does have a ton of cities in it and gives me the info easier/faster than the current web site calculators.

It been mentioned before on forums discussing this that there is no perfect solution, other than being at the exact spot the day before and witnessing the rise or set. The problem with that method is that I don't often shoot at a location more than once.

So, this gets me close and the rest is a mystery, that's the fun.

I got the Vista exception from your link, don't use it myself. Everything I have is XP.

I would suggest that you might think about just looking for large expanses of open landscape to the West if looking for sunsets, and East for the sunrises. Water always makes either better, IMHO.

If you want to be covered, just venture out about ten miles in the ocean and you should be covered for either event.

Leave it to Apple, I just got an app for my iPhone 3G called Astromo, tells you more than what you'll ever need regarding Sunrise/set and how to respond gracefully to people unfortunate enough to be stuck on ANY Windows platform.
