Model Release

I have a question in the model release area. If I am taking photos for a company, and the model is an employee of the company, do you need to have that employee sign a model release? Especially if the company will be using the photo for brochures, power points, etc.

Another question, what if you are taking photos for a University, and the model used is a student, do you need the student to sign a model release form?

Thank you in advance,

Aaron

Re: Model Release

Yes in both cases...no question.

In the case of the employee, I would remind the employer that they should have their own release too (in addition to yours) or that they have something in their employment contract to cover it. Remember, employees can quit/get fired and then, if they're not released, they could make lots of trouble for anyone using the images.

Best--
Leslie

Re: Model Release

I add my vote to Leslie's..

Example: If the model leaves the company on bad terms and decides that you and the company should not use the images, any lawyer can sue.. With a simple release form, from you and the company, a legal agreement is established.

Re: Model Release

Thanks for the responses Leslie and Waleed. I thought that would be the case, but was just curious.
