Re: A PR Idea I did...

A downloadable calendar is a nice idea, but would probably miss the targeted consumer.. A quick survey I always like to do is ask the people around the room, would you download a calendar or get one on your desk?

My result was 100% votes for a desk calendar (6 votes).. I know it's not a very accurate vote, but gives a preliminary idea of the market.

Re: A PR Idea I did...

Hello Waleed, Great Promo idea, and nice shots! I am looking into some new PR ideas for my commercial photo business as well, I was just curious, are business's in your country as besieged with mailing pieces, as they are here in the USA? that’s the biggest problem with mail advertising here, there is so much of it, many companies just dump postcards and brochures in the trash without even looking to see what they are about! With this in mind, I am hesitant to spend any large amount of money on direct mailings, but compared to the cost of Magazine advertising and other ad media available to photographers, I guess it's about our best bet. ...Good Luck with your PR program!

Re: A PR Idea I did...

Thanks John..

The most recent trend is home delivered flyers, you would find an average of 10/month under your door.. Not through the postal mail though, as it is more expensive..

I guess every PR or advertisement has its own cultural touch, I cannot apply mine in the US or yours here. There must be changes and there must be some common grounds. Example: an ad that has a photo of a person in a swimsuit, or a brand of liquor, is considered offensive, and I can loose my business and photography licenses for it because the community is very conservative.

Personally, I don't think magazine ads would generate any leads here, even if it was a specialized magazine. Newspaper ads, however, might have a larger impact.

Ten a month? Consider yourself lucky. We get about five per day at our place in Los Angeles and toss them directly in the trash without ever looking at them. There's too much cheap labor and printing available here; if there are any jewels hidden in that pile they're not going to be seen. The junk mail the US Postal Service delivers is almost as bad.
