Fire photography

I am a coordinator of a 17 town Photo unit in the Suburban Chicago area. We have been looking into the use of Digital Photography for fire pictures, investigations and public education. I am intrested in what other people are doing in this field, type of equipment, and anything else you may have to offer. At this point working in the county that does not work, we CANNOT use digital photographs for criminal fire investigations and must rely on film cameras. Thanks ROB for the opportunity to use this forum.

Re: Fire photography

For your uses, all you need is a Nikon Coolpix 990 ( $ 850. ) and maybe the bracket with extra Nikon flash for distant shots.

Re: Fire photography

It can be done but will require a lot of training. I am in charge of digital for Ford Mo Co. We take a lot of pics world wide, to try to get 50 different photogs to use the same digital standards takes a lot of work but we estimate savings of hundreds of thousands over film, processing and shiping. I will be happy to chat with you on the phone with suggestions. You may reach me at: rfeldma1@ford.com
