Artisan Monitor flickering/popping

This morning my monitor is flickering and making popping noises, I've never seen that before.
Anyone know what this is? thanks.

Re: Artisan Monitor flickering/popping

Everything on monitor looks blurry, so my guess is that it's shot. I just unplugged it, and replugged it no help.

Re: Artisan Monitor flickering/popping

Video monitors fail that way. There are some very high voltages in there.

Do yourself a favor and move up to a good LCD. You'll bless that flickering and popping when the dust settles.

I went through two high-end Sony wide format 24" monitors before moving up to a pair of 20" Dell LCDs, and there is simply NO comparison - the LCDs deliver more brightness and vibrant color, with pixel-perfect sharpness. I'm sorry I can't offer any advice on which models to choose now, as my LCDs are now years old and out of production.

Noel:
I still read that the Sony Artisan is unbeatable, so until someone like A Rodney comes here as says to bail on the ARtisan, I'm still with it.

Re: Artisan Monitor flickering/popping

I have a few questions: Do you see every pixel discretely? Does a vertical or horizontal single-pixel wide line render crisply? There are things beyond highly accurate color representation that make a monitor great.

You can literally see things in your images on an LCD that you could never have hoped to have seen on any CRT.

If I were you, facing a decision to spend thousands more on a new CRT or LCD, I'd see if I could put them side by side and compare directly. Have you ever put a good LCD on your system and compared it side by side with your Artisan? Perhaps an Eizo LCD, for example.

IMO, CRT technology - even tweaked to the max and with gee whiz self-calibrating functionality - is last century's tech.

Andrew Rodney isn't the only person around with a good pair of eyes, you know.

Re: Artisan Monitor flickering/popping

Thanks Guys, good info. The Artisan is working good now, but I'm not open to LDC in future.
