Question Spyder 2 pro or Spyder 3 pro or ???

Ok. Well I need a new Calibration setup. So I was planing to get the Spyder 3 Pro, but had heard from a few that they wish they had not gone to the 3 elite, so I was hoping to get some feedback here. What do you think? Anyone using either or both of them??? I will be using it on my laptop and also on my desktop, with a 24inch dell monitor.

Thanks a ton

Re: Spyder 2 pro or Spyder 3 pro or ???

I bought the Spyder3 Elite when it was released last year. (I had been using the Spyder 2Pro). It is probably the best colorimeter available for monitor calibration. It has the largest sensor of any current model, ambient light detection and the only seven color detection engine. It is fully capable of handling the new wide gamut monitors as well as projectors. The difference between the Spyder3Pro and Elite models is the accompanying software. A comparison of features is available here:

The Spyder3 is a total redesign of the Spyder2 and well worth the investment.

Re: Spyder 2 pro or Spyder 3 pro or ???

I used the Spyder2Pro for almost a year then it developed a nasty habit of losing the USB driver for the sensor. I'd re-install, get one monitor profiled(maybe) and then lose it when I unplugged the sensor. DataColor's tech service was, shall we say "less than useful" and leave it at that . I'm fairly computer savvy, familiar with Windoze, and my home-built PC runs reliably and well, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't a hardware problem.

I replaced it with the Eye One Display 2, have had no problems and like the software better.
