Best Color Calibration program/tool you have used and would reccomend?
Well Im going to get a new color calibration tool. I use the older Eye1, but let a friend barrow it and have not seen it again...
So its time to get a new one. Looking to see what other here have used on a PC platform and the results they have gotten. I will be using it on my laptop and my new Dell 24inch monitor whenever DHL finally decided to deliver it, its only 4+ days late so far, when shipped Next day delivery from dell.
Anyone tried the new Spyder 3 or Spyder 3 Elite yet? Safer to go with the Spyder 2 pro?
Re: Best Color Calibration program/tool you have used and would reccomend?
i use the eyeone display 2 for my laptop and dektop, couldnt ask for anything more. unlesss you need something to do printerss/cameras etc its all you need.

Stick with the EyeOne Display-2 or if you can still find them, a bit better the OPTIX from X-Rite (discontinued but supported). I would not run out and get a Spyder based on their performance and history in the market in the past. It may be a great device but only time will tell. The EyeOne Display is a proven device with tens of thousands in use.

The eye one display 2 by Gretag-MacBeth (now owned by Xrite) is getting a little 'long in the tooth" (2004). What may have worked in the past may not be the best solution today. The Datacolor Spyder3 Elite is currently the best in it's class when it comes to monitor calibration.

Based on what? You tested the hardware how (and how many samples) for measuring accuracy?
My Spectrolino is REALLY old, few Spectrophotometer's built since then have the repeatability and accuracy so the date of manufacturer isn't at all a reliable indicator here. And why would something that worked well in the past not necessarily still work well today?

While Apple's G5 may still work well today (2004 model), I would not go out and buy one. I would purchase a MacPro with an intel processor, increased memory capacity, larger data pipeline, etc. Computer electronics seem to have a three year lifespan, after which a newer model with more features makes the prior obsolete.
The same can be said for the monitor calibrators. The new Spyder 3 has a newly designed optical sensor that is 400% more light sensitive than the previous model (which was on par with the eye one display 2).
Do I personally have test results to confirm this? No
Do you have test results to deny this calibrators accuracy? I think not!

OK what I thought, so basically, one should probably ignore your recommendations since they are baseless.
Do I have results to deny this? No, if I did, I'd say so. When I get the unit, I will make comments to the list based on some scientific testing, not total conjecture.
Least we forget the history of previous spyders, I find your comments even less useful.

Absolutely not so! The huey is much newer than my Spectrolino, my EyeOne Display, even my Optix and EyeOne Pro. It's not even in the same class of instrument.
