No need for a personal attack, I have owned and used Datacolor products for monitor calibration for five years. I have calibrated CRT and LCD monitors on both PC and Mac systems and found the Spyder to be an excellent product. I am not alone in my opinion, here are links citing two separate reviews favoring the Spyder2 Pro over the eye one calibrator:
Least we forget the history of previous spyders, I find your comments even less useful.
My comments were intended to inform about my experience with Colorvision/Datacolor products, something of which you do not seem to have much experience with.

You'll know when I'm personally attacking you
You made a statement that has no basis in fact. Well you made several. The amount of time a product has been on the market doesn't make it necessarily better. Yes, the Spyder 3 is new. But until you or I get one and do some actual testing, everything said here is pure speculation. You state that the EyeOne Display is 'long in the tooth' but that's not based on anything remotely well defined or tested. You state the Spyer is 'best in class' without defining what the class is or what metric you used to make such a statement. What makes you state this? That's all I asked.

I based the statements on my prior positive experience with the Spyder2 Pro and the available information posted on the Spyder3 Elite. Specifically this information; "The new Spyder3 colorimeter offers the only seven-detector colour engine on the market, with its 27mm aperture, the largest in its class, giving a greater screen sampling area and a 400 per cent increase in light sensitivity."

Ah,so you're swayed by marketing. Seven sensors must be better than one. OK. Well at least we're using science here to make buying decisions, NOT.

What's the matter Andy? Bit by a spyder as a youngster?
You have a technical point you want to make about the review? I'm all ears.
I assume the reviews you posted were somehow different?
The OP asked about a device recommendation. You provided an opinion on a device you've never seen nor used (something I haven't nor would do).
I'm getting the impression you're either a color vision dealer or troll. So far, you haven't provided an ounce of backup to your apparently biased opinions. I think we're done here bud. Unless you have something of substance to provide, which so far hasn't been your M.O.

A disconnect in sound and rational thinking here is evident in the paper trail:

Wrong on all counts.
