Re: Getting b30" Apple and 27" Dell monitors to match??

If you are asking me, I am using a Mac, with Leopard, now.

We have PCs here and have calibrated with them, too.

I have never found it possible to get two dissimilar monitors to match exactly. You may have to do the best you can and just live with it. Use the better monitor for your images and the other one for your palettes.

Luminance of 120cd per meter squared is OK. The ratio of your white luminance to black luminance should ideally match the dynamic range of your intended output. For example, if your prints have a dynamic range of 500:1 then you should calibrate your display should to be roughly the same.

Re: Getting b30" Apple and 27" Dell monitors to match??

Thanks Alan,

That has been my understanding of it.

However, from the noises they made when I contacted them, the various calibrator makers are working on that problem.

It seems there are still some color shifts (like the more greenish Dell 27" and more magenta Apple 30") that the instruments either do not register or the software cannot discern.

The Apple seems more accurate colorwise. But the Dell has proportionally lower resolution and, therefore, details are larger and easier to read/see. So in that setup, I work with the Apple and view details if necessary on the Dell. Otherwise I feed my VCR into the Dell and watch TV on it.

I still will do the comparison between X-Rite/GM stuff and Spyder Suite.
