Sony Artisan with nVidia 8600 GTS

Hi all.

We've ordered new computers from Dell that include a nVidia 8600 GTS video card (running WinXP)

The concern is that the card only has a DVI port (and includes a DVI to VGA adaptor); not sure how well that'll work with the Artisan.

Does anyone have real-world experience with this combo, or with DVI to VGA converters? Want to make sure that all the nice Artisan calibration stuff will still work.

I'm also considering getting the ATI Radeon x1600 Pro which offers both DVI and VGA ports - again any one out there with actual experience on this card?

I'm on a Mac running my Artisan via DVI. No problems. I suspect software on windows will be the biggest issue here.

Andrew - do you have any recommendations for a particular card (for XP Pro) to work with the Artisan? Especially, if we're in the $250 and under range?

I don't but suspect just about any modern card will drive it. I've even driven it from a PowerBook!

I run mine very well on XP Pro.. Dell Precision 360 WS with the NVIDIA Quadro FX 600 that Dell recommended when theyu built the computer for me. They knew it was going to run the Sony Artisan because I bought it from them at the same time. From what they told me.. it had more than enough for what the Artisan wants. It's described as an "entry level" for the top tier of NVIDIA cards. works great.
