PM5 vs Match3 for Monitors...

OK--a real test of the forum! Which is better for monitor profiling... PM5 or Eye One Photo?

I just took the plunge and bought PM5 (I also have Fuji Colorkit RGB output module) for print profiling and editing.

I also use the Eye One Photo package. The latest monitor calibration is automatic with my EIZO LCD, and seems very, very good (and easy).

Is there any reason at all to use PM5 for monitor profiling / calibration? Does it use DDC to automatically profile the monitor, too? Can I use both Match 3.x and PM5?

Any help at all here is greatly appreciated!

Re: PM5 vs Match3 for Monitors...

Hmmm. I'm answering my own post...

According to GM tech support, Match 3.x is the more advanced (as in easy-to-use) monitor profiling system, since it supports DDC.

PM5 of course, lets you do some different things with the calibrating. A future release of PM will also support DDC.

After reading the other thread on native whitepoint, it appears I have even more options than I'd like, as well!

But for now, looks like I'll let Match 3 do the monitor automatically through DDC, and check things from time to time with the Measure Tool in PM5.

(I really bought PM5 for print profiling anyway)
