New SED display technology screenshots

I'm surprised no one has posted on this here.

Here's some links I've spent the afternoon collecting showing the first digicam shots of the first SED displays by Toshiba/Canon taken at several tech trade shows. It will trump Philip's S-IPS LCD technology-(Apple Cinema Displays) and will put plasma's out of circulation.

Why can't these corporate techy's hire a decent pro photographer to take pictures of these impressive displays. It's not like they can't afford it. GEEZ!

Here's a better shot of a Canon model.

Yeah, I saw a lot about this. A few things:

- when will it be available so we can learn more?
- how heavy will this be (no more heavy CRTs for me)?
- it will be interesting to see it compared to the NEC WG monitors
- how much will it cost?

Re: New SED display technology screenshots

Ron,

I believe Toshiba is shooting for affordable models near the end of 2006. As for what affordable is the articles don't indicate. But I also looked into OLED technology everyone's been waiting for with first model made by Samsung that came out back in May of 2005 occording to this wikepedia article:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OLED

.....And I don't see anything out in the market since then that's affordable or in wide spread production either.

At least Toshiba/Canon are out their showing their wares more than OLED and SED technology seems to make a better argument for affordability due to it's efficient methods of manufacturing over OLED. Maybe OLED will start to get their act together market wise and trump SED in the process. I don't see it happening yet when I do a search on the subject.

Thanks for the link, Tim, the wikipedia is awesome. The current king of the hill is this NEC 2180UX-WG. I'm anxious for any of these to get into my price range.

Thanks for the NEC link, Ron.

That model looks very promising for color accurate work. I wonder what the viewing angle performance is like.

Re: New SED display technology screenshots

The NEC is the best out there ! I had the chance to test it against my CG220, which really is a great Monitor but against the NEC it seems a little bit old ;-). Ok but when there is the price and here the NEC is also the King.
