Difficulty in calibrating Apple 30\"....

We have just gotten this monitor and are using it on a G5 DP with NVidia GeForce 6800 GT DDL video card, the card recommended by Apple for this monitor. We are using the Gretag Macbeth version 3.4 software with an Eye1 spectrometer. When we are attempting to calibrate contrast and RGB color, we find those controls to be grayed out and unavailable. When looking at the recommended PDF aassociated with this version of the software, it seems this monitor is not supported. My assistant says the software is asking us to calibrate using RGB sliders or RGB presets, neither of which seems to be available with this monitor/software combination. We were having very acceptable results with our 23" cinema display earlier this week. To the best of my knowledge, this is the most recent version of the calibration software. Any suggestions? I understand that many on this board are using this equipment successfully. Any help would be appreciated.

Happy New Year.

Re: Difficulty in calibrating Apple 30\"....

Does your version of the software have an Easy Mode where all it does is measure the state of the display with no profile LUT loaded. It seems most of these new LCD's and heck my 7 year old CRT are well within specs of 2.2, P22 phosphors and 6500K so getting out the big guns and using the Advanced mode seems to create more problems than it solves at least it does for me.

I'm new to this puck stuff and am finding just making sure my display looks decent without a LUT loaded and just measuring and creating a profile gives faster, easier results and better grayramps.

Just a suggestion.

Re: Difficulty in calibrating Apple 30\"....

I have all the same hardware as you, and it all works OK. My 30 inch behaves exactly the same as my 23 inch with eyeone and 3.4, advanced mode.
Have you connected the displays usb lead to the computer (not all the controls are available until you do).
If you are used to using the eyeone and 3.4 with the 23 inch you will know that separate contrast control is not available with LCD.
