50D in very low temperature (-20C)

Hi, I just had 50D and I will visit the north China (Harbin) at the end of this year. But I do not know that my 50D will damaged at the very low temperature or not or any suggestion. Thank you very much in advance.

Two things to think about:
1) Avoid condensation by taking precautions when going from cold outside to warm inside.
2) Batteries will not last long at -20C. Take several, and keep them warm when not in the camera. You'll need to swap them out regularly as they'll get cold and stop working.

Re: 50D in very low temperature (-20C)

Digital cameras seem to work pretty well in cold weather, as they don't have the film transport issues that screwed up film cameras in the cold.

The biggest issue I have is condensation from coming into a warm room from the cold outside. Some paper towel to wipe off the condensation is a good thing to have, and make sure you don't change the lenses until your equipment is at room temperature to keep the condensation from getting inside your camera, would be my biggest pieces of advice.

Building on David's advice, put your camera in a large Zip Lock bag or something similar before entering a warmer area. The cold air is dry and will be trapped inside your Zip Lock bag. Once you enter a warm room, the warmer, moist air will be prevented from contacting your camera. Once the camera has reached room temperature, you can remove safely from the bag without worrying the warmer, moist air will condense on your cold camera because it is no longer cold.
