Using 550ex Flash

I'm getting a fair amount of over exposures, about 2/3 of a stop with the 550ex.
Any one else having the problem ?
I purchased the flash used, might be defective.
Thanks Dan

Re: Using 550ex Flash

I've been using the D30 for the last three days and I've found the E-TTL with the 550ex to be the very best that I've ever used. The only thing that I can think of is that you've unconsciously used the flash exposure compensation either on the body or on the 550. It's either that or you've got an equipment failure. My review of the D30 is available at http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canond30/page21.asp

Neil.

Re: Using 550ex Flash

Dan,
I'm not delighted with flash on the D30 - sometimes it works just perfectly, but I tend to set it to -1 or -2 for fill work, something I rarely do with my 1ns. With full flash, it is not a patch on 540/In combination with many overexposures. This fits with my general feeling that Canon have made a mistake in putting such a wonderful chip in such a low level body...
