Flash shoe replacements -Thanks Canon

Just a quick note and THANK YOU to Canon. One of my 580's had the plastic shoe break after the camera and tripod got knocked over when the canopy hit them during a wind burst.

I searched ebay and found a replacement shoe for $20. including shipping. Then I called Canon and they sent me a replacement bottom piece which was $5., so I bought a few. It only takes a minute to replace. You don't need the whole bottom section (unless that is what broke), just the one small shoe piece. Canon took the time to search if just that piece was sold separately.

Thanks Canon!! Of course, if they made it out of metal, we wouldn't need to replace them so often.
I just can't seem to say something nice without qualifying it a bit.

Doug

Yeah, they can make an unbreakable flash. So when you smack your flash off something you can rip the mirror box off your camera instead. It's designed to break there on purpose. As you stated, $5 and a few minutes and you're shooting again. Versus sending in your body and spending gawd only know how much.

Glad it all worked out well for you!
